![]() There's been different accounts depending who you talk to (& when) over the years on why/how exactly it happened, but as they were getting started to shoot Iron Man 2 it was announced that Don Cheadle would be taking over the character of Rhodes, and has for all subsequent applicable Marvel movies. But of course, the underlying issue, lest we forget after this whole decade now, that a whole different friggin guy played Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Tony Stark's best friend and the official military liaison to Stark Industries, named Terrence Howard, in the original Iron Man film. That's what would make the beauty of this actually that much better. And not saying that the dialog doesn't make sense specifically in the context for this moment in the movie, it 100% does. It's when he and Tony physically reach other that Don Cheadle stars to turn into profile and give a more direct look at his face. Now first of all, the character is introduced with the camera looking at his back, as he walks forward to the microphone (all things considered, definitely not an accident). Rhodey gets called forward to speak, which Tony obviously didn't even know was going to happen. It's one of the first scenes of the movie, where Tony Stark is giving his testimony to congress (the excellent Gary Shandling cameo) about them wanting his suit. ![]() 'History would be interesting though,' the young man finally said. Then his mom would find out and Rhodey would have to run for his life. Stark knew about Iron Man, hed know about War Machine. I hadn't looked at IM2 (in full) in quite a long time. Of course there was that offer from SHIELD and his work as Iron Man Yeah, Rhodey hoped that discussion was still a while a ways though. I then wanted to watch Iron Man 2 again, which I've definitely not seen as many times as the original. But so I wound up just sort of on a whim watching Iron Man again yesterday. Granted, maybe this will be TOO subtle for you all here, and you'll think I'm reaching lol.
